Creating a New QuickBooks Data File

There are five ways to create a new QuickBooks data file.

  1. Create a file from scratch
  2. Upgrade a file from an earlier version of QuickBooks
  3. Convert a file from Quicken
  4. Convert a file from Peachtree, MS Small Business Accounting, or MS Accounting
  5. Convert a file from another edition of QuickBooks
When you use option #1, you can use QuickBooks' Easy Step Interview to walk you through the process. If you're comfortable doing so, you can skip the interview and enter all of the information on your own.
