Who's Been Googling My Google?
Google has released a new feature that helps track unauthorized access of your Gmail account.
Log into your Gmail account and scroll all the way to the bottom. There's now a line that says "Last Account Activity". It includes who logged in and how long ago. The only drawback is, it won't give you any names. It will only give you an IP address (a numeric address for your computer).
However, if you are using any type of broadband internet access, such as DSL or cable, you will usually be assigned the same IP address every time you access the internet. You can confirm this by visiting WhatsMyIP.org. If Gmail shows a different IP address has been in your account, and you haven't accessed your account at work or another computer other than your home computer, then you know your account has been hacked. Click the Details link at the bottom of your account for more information on the unauthorized access.
What should you do now? Change your Gmail password. Ideally, you should use a password that is long, and consists of a nonsensical combination of letters and numbers. Such passwords are harder to hack.
