Squeeze Your Icons
If having a desktop cluttered with icons bothers you, one way to reduce the clutter is to reduce the spacing between icons.
Just right-click anywhere on the desktop, choose Personalize, Window Color and Appearance. If you don't see the Appearance Settings dialog box, click Open Classic Appearance Properties For More Color Options. Once you find the Appearance Settings dialog box, click Advanced. The Icon Size setting, however, does not change the icon size. Instead, it changes the spacing between icons. The default value is 32, and the minimum is 16. Reducing the value will compact "squeeze" your icons together and reduce the amount of space they take up on your desktop.
