Get RSS Feeds From Sites That Don't Have One

Did you know there are websites that can create an RSS feed of sites that don't offer RSS? If you're already using a feed reader such as Google Reader, Bloglines, or Newsgator, read on to learn more.

There are a variety of reasons why you might want to monitor a website for changes, even if it doesn't offer its own RSS feed. For example, if you have a small business, you may want to monitor competitors' sites for changes. You might also want to monitor the websites for professional organizations of which you are a member. If you're hunting for a job, there's at least a few websites you'd like to monitor for new jobs that don't offer RSS feeds of job postings.

Using a service such as Page2RSS.com, you can enter the URL of the website you want to monitor. You can even enter the URL of a specific page on a website. Hit Enter, and Page2RSS will create an RSS feed link for you to add to your favorite RSS reader.

There's also a plugin for Firefox called Update Scanner. If you're a devoted FireFox user, you might want to check it out.
